Agriculture is the backbone of the world in order to provide food to all the people. There were so many studies made to enhance agriculture and so many people given many theory to produce efficient farming. By that way the "Father of Indian Green Revolution" is Mr.M.S. Swaminathan.
Green Revolution Means...
Green Revolution (a term used for rapid increases in wheat and rice yields in developing countries brought about by improved varieties combined with the expanded use of fertilizers and other chemical inputs) has had a dramatic impact on incomes and food supplies in many developing countries.
In the year 1965, the government of India launched the Green Revolution with the help of a geneticist, now known as the father of the Green Revolution (India) M.S. Swaminathan. The movement of the Green Revolution was a great success and changed the country’s status from a food-deficient economy to one of the world’s leading agricultural nations. It started in 1967 and lasted till 1978.
There were so many Programs / Schemes / Missions were started by INDIAN GOVERNMENT in order to enhance agriculture products and to protect farmers in a healthy way... Some of them were discussed here...
1. Farmers Portal:
A platform for farmers to access information on agriculture, including insurance, storage, crops, seeds, pesticides, and more. The portal also provides information on fertilizers, market prices, and welfare schemes.
2. PM - KISAN Scheme:
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme is a government of India initiative that provides financial support to small and marginal farmers. The scheme aims to help farmers with the costs of inputs for their crops, and to protect them from moneylenders.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, all landholding farmers' families shall be provided the financial benefit of Rs. 6000 per annum per family payable in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each, every four months.
3. PM - KSY Scheme:
The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is a government program that aims to improve water use efficiency and increase water access on farms. The program's objectives include: Increasing the area of land that is irrigated, Reducing water wastage, Encouraging the use of water-saving technologies, Recharging aquifers, and Introducing sustainable water conservation practices.
The PMKSY has been operational since 2015-16 and is made up of two main components: the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) and Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP). The Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme is a part of the PMKSY that focuses on improving water use efficiency at the farm level
4. PM - FBY Scheme:
The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is a crop insurance scheme in India that provides financial support to farmers if their crops fail due to natural disasters, pests, or diseases. It was launched by Prime minister Narendra Modi on Feb 13, 2016.
5. PM - KMY Scheme:
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY) is a government scheme that provides a monthly pension to small and marginal farmers in India. Farmers who are between 18 and 40 can eligible for applying this scheme.Farmers contribute a monthly amount to the pension fund while they are working. The central government matches these contributions.
Once a farmer reaches the age of 60, they receive a fixed monthly pension of Rs. 3000
6. National Agriculture Market Portal:
The National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) is an online trading portal that connects agricultural markets across India.
The e-NAM portal was launched in 2016 to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities. It aims to improve marketing opportunities for farmers by providing a transparent and competitive price discovery system.
